AMB in the Community

Community involvement and corporate citizenship are central to AMB’s culture. We are committed to supporting the well-being and enrichment of communities where we work and live.

In 2001, AMB created the Charitable Activities Committee (CAC) to encourage employees to participate in a variety of local, national and global programs. The CAC includes employees from all levels of the organization who volunteer their time to assist in our charitable giving efforts.

AMB’s giving efforts are focused on health issues, education, family life, cultural enrichment and community building. Here’s a sample of recent and ongoing fund-raising and volunteer activities by AMB employees:

AMB Cares

AIDS Walk

AMB employees are dedicated to walking and raising money to provide essential and life-enhancing services to men, women and children living with AIDS and HIV.

American Cancer Society

Each year, AMB’s employees buy and distribute flowers through the “Daffodil Days” program to help fund groundbreaking cancer research, up-to-date education, public health policy advocacy and quality-of-life services for patients and their families.

American Heart Association

AMB employees have walked and raised $35,000 to support the annual Heart Walk’s national campaign to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and empower men and women to take charge of their health.

Esplanade Clean-up

AMB’s employees, friends and family gather annually on the banks of Boston’s Charles River to fill bags with trash and debris, helping restore natural beauty and inspire civic pride.

Junior Achievement

AMB employees partner with Junior Achievement to teach students how their schoolwork relates to the “real world” and contributes to their future success.

Northern Light School

AMB’s energetic cyclists rode 100 miles in the Wine Country Century bike ride to help determined K-8th grade students rise above potential limitations and reach their full potential. Graduates have earned degrees from Stanford, UCLA, Berkeley, Duke and other top universities.

Rebuilding Together

For 19 years, AMB employees have volunteered to repair homes and revitalize neighborhood facilities to foster warmth, safety and independence in local communities.

Rosie’s Place

AMB’s employees collect clothing and toiletries for this sanctuary for poor and homeless women with nowhere else to turn. Whether on an emergency or long-term basis, all women are welcomed to Rosie’s Place with respect and unconditional love.

The Second Step

AMB’s employees raise money (and volunteer) to support transitional housing and support services to women and children who have successfully taken the first step away from domestic violence. The Second Step empowers families to heal, maintain independence and achieve economic self-sufficiency.

Villa Joep

Villa Joep is a foundation in the Netherlands that supports research for Neuroblastoma Cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of cancer in children. AMB employees raise funds by generating sponsor income for racing activities. Sponsor income is matched by AMB and presented to Villa Joep, who distributes the funds to two ongoing research projects at the Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam and Radboud Hospital in Nijmegen.

Education for Engineering and Technology Students

AMB Property Japan has conducted tours for both students and engineers at its AMB Amagasaki Distribution Center. Over 20 engineers and 145 engineering and high school students have participated in the program. Participants learn about AMB Property Japan’s business activities, features of the distribution center and the new technologies it incorporates, followed by a tour of the construction.
