South Florida encompasses the tri-county region of Dade (Miami), Broward (Ft. Lauderdale) and Palm Beach counties. Miami is an important gateway hub for goods flowing from Europe and the Far East to Latin America and for goods from Latin America into the U.S. Almost 80 percent of imports and 76 percent of exports from Latin America and the Caribbean pass through Miami International Airport.
Florida has four of the 20 busiest ports in the U.S. in terms of moving cargo and passengers. The Port of Miami is number one worldwide in number of passengers.
