The Midlands region is the largest and most important logistics hub in the UK, thanks to its sizable population, central location and dense transportation network. The Midlands, a center of the Industrial Revolution, is still home to important automotive and aviation manufacturers, including Jaguar Land Rover. To this day, the Midlands is more manufacturing intensive than any other region in the UK. As a result, industrial properties and warehouses in the Midlands play an important role in providing distribution services for local factories.
Logistics and distribution operators in the Midlands rely on motorways, such as the M1, M5, M6 and M40, to transport goods to cities and urban areas, such as Liverpool and Manchester in the north, and London in the south. The East Midlands Airport is a key hub in the UK’s logistics system and the second-largest air cargo hub in the UK, behind Heathrow.
Prologis operates industrial properties and warehouses in prime locations throughout the Midlands.
